Daniel Victor (Pro Publica), Jack Pierce (@2Yellows)

November 10th, 2011

The scandal that continues to unfold at Penn State is unlike any other event in the history of sports. Josh and the crew give this ongoing saga some attention after hitting the requisite news of the day, joined by a former SID officer (Pierce) and alumnus of the school (Victor). The pair participate in a serious discussion of what should happen to the university, only to get a taste of that as the show draws to a close.

‘Like’ Us On Facebook (Before Your Mom Does)

October 27th, 2011

Gregg Doyel (CBS Sports) with Zach Harper (ESPN)

October 27th, 2011

If one were to infuse an outlandish internet sports columnist with midwestern sensibilities, one might end up with a being strikingly similar to Gregg Doyel. The national columnist at writes with a self-awareness, and an understanding of self-promotion. Gregg was in St. Louis waiting for the rain to stop and the World Series to resume, and found the time to talk about his Achilles heel regarding podcasting, why the media is rooting against Tim Tebow, and pro football's "Bad Guy, Non-Criminal Division".

Recorded 10.26.2011 with Amber Jones and special guest Zach Harper. Episode 97.

What The Duck Sauce?

October 26th, 2011

If you've listened lately, you know what big fans of Duck Sauce we are. Here's their latest video, and it is...special. Just watch it. Really, writing this video up would just ruin it.

Diana Klochkova (The Sports Biotch, f. Oakland Raiders)

October 24th, 2011

Nobody thought we could start our third straight podcast writeup with "Nobody," but then again maybe nobody cared. Blogging nomad and friend of the show Diana Klochkova returns to the dojo with her experiences in the Oakland Raiders front office, what to expect from Carson Palmer and her new podcast (spoiler alert: Josh is involved).

Recorded 10.19.2011 with Aaron Merrill, Amber Jones and Phil Raintree. Episode 96.

Dan Levy (Bleacher Report, ‘other stuff in my depth of field’)

October 13th, 2011

Nobody has made more guest appearances in The Dojo than Dan Levy, who checks into the HOUSE of PUNTE scorer's table for the 11th time. Dan discusses the Phillies and the criteria for trollbaiting on the internet...and then things get a little out of hand. Josh tells a story about trolling a guy who may or may not have been Mark Schlereth's nephew, and Phil gives us another "Old Timey" set of picks.

Recorded 10.12.2011 with with Aaron MerrillPhil Raintree, Shakey and Katelynn The Commish. Episode 95.

Emma Carmichael (Deadspin, The Awl)

October 6th, 2011

Nobody would expect a self-proclaimed feminist to be one of the leading voices on Deadspin, but there's Emma Carmichael, a Vassar grad, doing her thing on a sports site under fire for its dong pics and arguably misogynist tone. We ask Emma about what inspires her writing, her thoughts on how feminism and sports intersect today, and how much penis-inspired sportswriting is really too much.

September 20th, 2011

Matt Miller has been following the NFL Draft for years, but like a lot of online writers, had trouble finding an audience. Today, he's one of the leading prospectors of the NFL draft, and a fellow lead writer of Zerkle's at Bleacher Report. Miller discussed his start in football scouting and who he's watching for the 2012 draft. And Miller deserves enormous credit for stepping into the dojo and playing "Draft Pick...or Registered Sex Offender?" against the HOUSE OF PUNTE crew.
